A Kind Barber

Mr. Black has a warm barber’s shop in a small town. Every day, many customers come here to cut their hair, and the shop is always full of laughter.

One day, an old woman walks into his shop slowly(慢慢地). She takes off her old hat, and her thin hair falls around her shoulders. She looks very sad, and Mr. Black feels surprised.

“I have cancer,” the old woman says in a low voice(小声地). “I will lose all my hair soon, and I don’t want to look ugly(难看的).” Mr. Black wants to help her with this trouble(麻烦). He takes his scissors, cuts her hair short carefully, and then gives her soft, beautiful wigs. The old woman looks at herself in the big mirror, and a big smile comes to her face at last.

Mr. Black says to himself, “Happiness springs from kind words and doing good. Helping others grow happiness is the most wonderful thing in the world.” Finally, the old woman looks smart and happy again, and she thanks Mr. Black again and again before leaving(离开) the shop.
