A Clumsy Child’s Surfer Dream

As a child, little Leo had a funny dream. He wanted to become a great surfer, even though he couldn’t swim at all! Every day, he practiced “surfing” in his backyard(院子) with a big surfboard. He stood on it and pretended(假装) to ride big waves.

One sunny day, Leo tried to “surf” down a small hill. But he was very clumsy(笨手笨脚的). He slipped and fell into the grass. He was scared(害怕的) and thought he nearly died! But he didn’t give up. He kept going and tried again. Later, a small shark—well, it was just a toy shark!—swam near him. Leo thought a real shark would attack him, so he ran away quickly.

All of his family laughed at him, but Leo was happy. He said things could go either way, and he wanted to keep trying. He knew that his silly dream was fun, and that’s what mattered.
